Can't get (adopted) 3 year old son away from his bottle or pacifer?

I think that you might give him a bear or a special toy that he could carry around when he feels uncomfortable. At first let him have both the pac. and the toy. Slowly start moving the pac. out of sight alittle at a time. Soon tell him the toy can go out with him but the pac. cannot. When he comes home let him have it for awhile, but soon replace it with the toy. When you ask him if he is hungry, wants to go for a walk, or go out and play, ask the toy, if it would like to do it also. Keep showing love even though it might drive you crazy. (bottle and pac.) The bottle at night put less in it and try to replace it also with the toy. ( this is why I was thinking a bear or dog, something soft.) Good Luck and congrat on your special treasure!!!!!
