When to have a work cited page?

Ok so I don't remember basic English. I'm writing an informal paper for my anthropology cl and we have to show how artifacts demonstrate 5 ares of culture. One of them is technology. If I were to write "According the Merriam-Webster Dictionary, technology is defined as 'a manner of accomplishing a task especially using technical processes, methods, or knowledge'..." Would I have to create a work cited page and cite that source?
