Taking the pacifier away at 1 year of age?

Do you have experience with taking thepacifier away from a 1 year old who is super addicted to it for naptime and bedtime? I have always said that I am going to have Madison off the binkie by 1. She has a month to go, but I am afraid because she NEEDS it to get to sleep, otherwise she will scream for an hour. And wake up in the middle of the night needing it. She doesnt have it during the day, only during sleep times. Any advice for me?
