What are safe motherboard temperatures?

I just ordered an ASUS M3N-ht deluxe/HDMI and put it together yesterday. I opened up the PC Probe II software and every time I open it I get an alert that says my motherboard it too hot. It usually sits around 49C but that temperature climbs while under load. I just want to know if 49C is normal.
